CLAT 2027 applications are open for admission to participating National Law Universities. NLU Delhi is not part of CLAT and conducts AILET separately.
What this exam or admission route is
The Consortium conducts CLAT for undergraduate and postgraduate law admissions at participating NLUs. Applicants must choose the correct programme and also complete counselling steps after the result.
Who can apply
For UG, the official page states no upper age limit and requires 45% in 10+2, reduced to 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2027 may apply subject to result-production rules. PG applicants must check the LL.B. criteria.
Exam or selection structure
- Offline pen-and-paper examination
- UG: 120 MCQs in 120 minutes across English, current affairs/GK, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques
- Negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer
- PG: 120 law-focused objective questions in 120 minutes

- Enter reservation and NLU preference details carefully
- Upload certificates and pay the application fee
- Download admit card and later complete consortium counselling
Preparation and planning
Read editorials and legal/current-affairs material daily, practise passage-based questions and take offline mocks with OMR discipline.
Documents to keep ready
- Class 10 certificate for name and date of birth
- Qualifying-examination marksheets and certificate
- Recent photograph, signature and valid photo ID
- Category, EWS, PwD, domicile or experience certificate, where applicable
- Application confirmation, fee receipt, admit card and scorecard
